As we began discussing what he had talked about in the interview, the main thing that kept coming to our minds was how he had mentioned, with sadness in his eyes, how much he missed being able to hug his family. This touched our hearts, and it didn’t take us long to decide that this was what we would focus on: how to help him be able to give a two-armed hug again.
We discussed many ways to accomplish this and soon the Hugger (now called the HugAgain) was born. It is a simple piece of adaptive equipment, but to those who have been affected by stroke, have limited upper body strength, paralysis, or injury, the joy experienced in a heartfelt two-armed embrace of those they love is beyond words..
When we saw him using the HugAgain for the first time with his grandchildren, we were brought to tears of shared joy. We cannot wait for others around the world to have the same experience with their loved ones.
